Having not made a post in a while…

I thought now was as good a time as any. Most recently I have been regaining my taste for progressive house with it’s subtle basslines, constant whirring, soft vocals and slightly trance edged highs. Bliss. Check out some of Noel Sanger’s mixes for this. Also DJ Leko – Conscious Mind (Noel Sanger Remix) and Armin Van Buuren feat. Jaren – Unforgiveable (Cerf and Mitiska Remix). Excellent.

In another very slight offshoot (I find proper house music very pleasurable) has anyone noticed how arousing cooking can be? Having just decided to cook a very pleasant meal it is actually very arousing. This isn’t something I’ve just noticed of course, but I wonder how many people would actually openly admit to it?
I’m braising a nice pork fillet in copious amounts of semi-decent Argentinian red wine with garlic and onion to hopefully make a nice jous. Served with some garlic mash and carrots. Nice, no?

Windows 7 Review Post #1

Posted by in Geekery Comment on this

Before Christmas, I purchased a copy of Windows 7 Ultimate upgrade from my workplace, and have finally got round to installing it.  Having done this, I thought I’d post some updates as to my impressions and how it’s all going.

Installation was a pretty straightforward affair. Popped the disc in, and pretty soon I had upgraded my ageing copy of XP up to a shiny new version of 7.  Interface wise, you’re instantly struck with similarities to the horror that was Vista.  So far (in stark contrast to Vista) I am very impressed.  On closer inspection, it seems Microsoft have put a lot of care into the actual usability of the OS.  Quite often, I find myself aiming to carry out a task, and stumbling on some nifty little time saving feature that results in me going “ooh, actually that’s quite cool.”

I’ll be posting a lot more in the coming weeks with impressions, discoveries and even irritations.  In the meantime however, if you like me are migrating over to the latest Microsoft offering, I suggest browsing Lifehacker’s Windows 7 posts.

Pasta, geekery, and ice

So, in-between stuffing my face with pasta bake and drooling over the latest pics of the new Boxee box (not a pleasant mental image, but accurate), I thought this would be an appropriate time to chuck a post up – I realise HB has turned into a bit of a desolate winter wonderland lately…much like the UK looks from space.

Bangor itself has pretty much escaped the snow so far.  We have ice, and cold, but that’s about it.  I’m not sure whether I’m disappointed or happy at this one.
