Zombie Boot Camp

Posted by in Geekery, Ramblings 1 comment

We’re a pretty mindful bunch at HB towers, and as such can often be found working out our plan for surviving the upcoming zombie apocalypse.  However, a company in the Midlands has gone a step further and is now offering a boot camp to train you in the ways of zombie slaying: including such classics as squad tactics, small arms, and grenade use.

You can book such a day on Wish.co.uk for £59.  I can’t really express how much I (and I’m imagining the rest of HB towers) want to go on this.

Gears of War 3: Ashes to Ashes

While I’m still engrossed in Battlefield Bad Company 2, I’m always looking out for a new game to leech my time.  So, with that in mind, here’s a trailer for Gears of War 3.  While it doesn’t give much away, it hints strongly to the mood of the game, which is due out in April next year.

If you’re wondering what the music is in the background, it’s Heron Blue by Sun Kil Moon.

The Pacific is the new 10 part series from the makers of Band of Brothers, starting Easter Monday on Sky Movies.  I cannot wait for this.

Infinity Ward have released a new multiplayer video for Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2, due for release in November.  Looks quite impressive, and I’m certainly looking forward to blowing things up from orbit…well, ish.

Yet another mini rant

“Fiancée, is your baby mine or my best friend’s?”

What is it about Jeremy Kyle that makes me want to merge his face with the nearest door?  I’m feeling in a non-tolerant, bitter, cynical mood today.  I think this stems from driving back from town this morning and hearing the most vomit inducing Disney style love story on BBC Radio 1 (thankyou Jo Whiley).

Rant over.  Carrying on from a previous post, here’s some calming Fur TV.

3 Things I Have Done Today…

Posted by in Ramblings Comment on this

I have:

  • Woken up and sworn, a lot.
  • Found a scary amount of crisps in my work keyboard with the help of compressed air.
  • Bought a summer ball ticket.

What wonderous joys this afternoon is likely to bring.

Isn't the news pleasant!

Posted by in Ramblings Comment on this

It must be said, I’m a bit of an avid news fan. However, it’s not very often that most of what you hear on the news is good! So today came as quite a pleasant surprise.

Who would have thought that in a single day:

1. Radovan Karadzic would be found and arrested [incidentally why would a tyrannical dictator responsible, allegedly, for the slaughter of thousands of people, choose to work in an alternative medicine centre?].

2. Mugabe and Tsvangirai holding talks (admittedly with some help from Mbeke) about power-sharing.

3. Petrol prices would decrease! Hurrah! Shame it’s only by 4p or so, but hey, I paid £1.25 on Sunday…

Rather a good day all in all!

However, that said, work was dire. Truly soul-destroying. I hate it at the moment, the people I work with are top but I didn’t slave away for three years to grind 20 year old paint off a metal train. That said, it does give me chance to listen to the radio and learn stuff. I choose Radio 4, I like it anyway. So, today’s fact I learned whilst listening: A fly, like most insects, has a de-centralised nervous system, unlike humans where it is obviously the brain. This means that an insect, even if you were to remove the head, could still function on a basic level – it’s wings would still flap and it’s legs would still move for example.

One final thought to you leave you with is this, again I heard it on the radio but it made me think:

Why do numbers always have the final word?
