It must be said, I’m a bit of an avid news fan. However, it’s not very often that most of what you hear on the news is good! So today came as quite a pleasant surprise.
Who would have thought that in a single day:
1. Radovan Karadzic would be found and arrested [incidentally why would a tyrannical dictator responsible, allegedly, for the slaughter of thousands of people, choose to work in an alternative medicine centre?].
2. Mugabe and Tsvangirai holding talks (admittedly with some help from Mbeke) about power-sharing.
3. Petrol prices would decrease! Hurrah! Shame it’s only by 4p or so, but hey, I paid £1.25 on Sunday…
Rather a good day all in all!
However, that said, work was dire. Truly soul-destroying. I hate it at the moment, the people I work with are top but I didn’t slave away for three years to grind 20 year old paint off a metal train. That said, it does give me chance to listen to the radio and learn stuff. I choose Radio 4, I like it anyway. So, today’s fact I learned whilst listening: A fly, like most insects, has a de-centralised nervous system, unlike humans where it is obviously the brain. This means that an insect, even if you were to remove the head, could still function on a basic level – it’s wings would still flap and it’s legs would still move for example.
One final thought to you leave you with is this, again I heard it on the radio but it made me think:
Why do numbers always have the final word?
