Killzone Intercept

Posted by in Geekery Comment on this

Fan films are generally pretty hit and miss, more often than not turning into something altogether a little too cheesy for comfort. Brian Curtin (of Beyond Black Mesa fame), however, has gone and created this absolute gem set in the Killzone series of games. Have a watch below, and afterwards check out the making of feature to see how they did it. Seriously impressive.

“2 weeks, 3,000 miles, 5,000 photos, in 3 Minutes.” Definitely some inspiration to be taken here in timelapse work.

10 Go to Devon

So a few of us at HB towers got a bit fed up of city life, and decided to head away to Devon for a week. Here’s what we got up to.

Birth of a Barrel

One of my current schemes (I usually like to keep a few on the go at any one time) is to build a cold smoker in the garden back home out of an old barrel, so this video instantly grabbed my attention.

By law, in the US, whisky must be aged in brand new, charred oak barrels, so a barrel is made, used, and subsequently sold on. This of course is great news for us, as Scotch whisky is aged in these very barrels (after they’ve been flat packed and shipped over the pond). Anyway, this video shows the process Jack Daniels go through to produce their own barrels.

All I need now is to find somewhere I can buy one.

2011 – This is what Madeline did

I know I can’t help but look back over 2011 with all that’s happened in life.  So, here’s a film from Madeline Schichtel that took this a step further. Worth every second.

I shot a little video every day of 2011 on my Canon Powershot, then I edited it all down to a little over a second each. It’s interesting to be able to look back on my year and remember these little moments. I love living in LA. I love the friends I’ve made. And I love seeing how much has changed over just one year being here.

Okay so I’m not the typical blogger, that writes about their feelings or insights to my life (most of the time anyhow), I do hope my style of blogging tends to give you some of the Prized Fish in the wide and ever expanding sea of despair and misspent youth. As such this shall be another post about one of those impressive nuggets I’ve found while browsing the internet.

It’s a video from a few months ago by a regular Vimeo poster by the name of Tom Guilmette, many more interesting videos can be found on his Vimeo channel, but for now I shall leave you with this, a video titled “Locked in a Vegas Hotel Room with a Phantom Flex”

The internet in my house is playing up, and as such, I’ve not had a chance to blog in ages, still only using the internet in Bar Uno, so just a quick one…

A video I watched year or so ago, and have just managed to find again.
